Ordered with the cherry finish, very happy with the way it looks. Box was banged up a little, but everything inside was in perfect condition. Word of warning, this 'thing' is HEAVY! It is a serious piece of furniture. Make sure you have plenty of room to assemble, which wasn't bad. Pretty straightforward. Two people would be nice, but I put it together by myself with minor difficulty. Have it nearby the place you're going to have it. I was lucky, I had carpeting, so I just slid it over. It's big and it holds alot! I have about 750 cd's and some dvd's and box sets, and it took it all with room to spare. I love it so much, I wish that I had more cd's and dvd's so I could get another one. Good quality and excellent price. I shopped around for quite awhile before deciding on this one, and I'm so glad I did! Would definitely recommend this Rack and Seller! Very happy!

First off, this thing is heavy! It comes in one box and I chose to help the delivery person get it into the house. I was a bit concerned, the box had rips and tears and holes. Nothing serious but I wondered? Upon opening the box, I was pleasantly surprised to see extra cardboard packaging and even some thin wood slats. Everything came out of the box in perfect condition! Maybe I was lucky, like I said , it was heavy! I could easily see how it could get damaged. But mine came, banged up a little on the outside, not a scratch inside. Assembly wasn't too bad, maybe 2 hours. I did have a little experience, but I laid out the major pieces out on the living room floor according to the diagram. The instructions make more sense, once you get started. You can see how everything is going to go and the rest goes pretty quick. I would recommend 2 people, but I did it alone (barely!). It's held together with screws and dowels. I used wood glue with the dowels, but it doesn't say to in the instructions. I figure every little bit helps. Don't lose any screws or dowels, as you just have enough! Make sure you have enough room to totally put it together, it's huge! Once I got it together, before I put the shelves in, I pushed it (carpet) to where I wanted it. Again, it's heavy. It comes with a wall bracket, to keep it from tipping over, but I didn't need it. I set it about 2-3 inches from the wall and after filling it, it was leaning back enough to just touch the wall and heavy enough you couldn't pull it over on yourself unless you were trying to. The shelves are sturdy, not cheap like some I've seen. They're made of particle board, but they're thick and solid and have this rich cherry veneer. They go in the rack on little metal posts (that stick in the holes really well!!!) and are very stable. There are 2 shelves permanently positioned in the middle of the rack (they help provide support and are put in during assembly). The rest of the shelves are all adjustable, put them in any arrangement you like. I thought that I might have to put some weight on the bottom, so I put some hardback books on the bottom to start out. The hardback books actually fit in the bottom of the rack! I didn't need the books as it turned out and everything fits perfectly! I have around 700 cd's (about 50 per shelf), plus 20-30 dvd's and some box sets. I arranged the shelves for maximum efficiency, and everything fits with some room to grow. I have the cherry finish and it really looks good. And it is! Very sturdy (might use the wall bracket with kids, never can be too safe!), rich cherry wood grain look and impressive size make this a serious piece of furniture! I am so happy with my purchase! I actually wish I had more stuff, so I could buy another one! I got this one at a VERY reasonable price, especially considering the way it looks, about 180 bucks including shipping! It looks like it cost a lot more. Would definitely recommend The Simple Stores and this Leslie Dame Cherry Rack. I am very pleased with my purchase!

I bought this 1000 CD media shelf unit because a decade ago I got the 1500 unit and it was such a good looking and sturdy piece of furniture. Nice to know after all this time the high quality is the same. These shelf units are made of dense particle board covered with a thick veneer, nothing flimsy here. Putting it together is simple if you have assembled anything from IKEA, and the instructions have written directions as well as clear diagrams. There are 2 fixed shelves and 16 adjustable shelves, so you can fill it up with CDs (and the shelves lock onto the pegs so they won't slide out accidentally). The shelf's box was wrapped in a slightly bigger box padded with scraps of veneer, which left the shelf pieces and the inner box in pristine condition. Free shipping did take the full estimated time as SS sent the package to FedEx on the sixth business day after purchase, so just keep that in mind when ordering.
