Plasma/LCD Stands

Tube TV Stands
The most common type of TV is the CRT (cathode-ray tube) TV. These TVs are made usually up to about 40-45 inches. Tube TV stands usually tend to be deeper and squarer than Plasma Stands due to requirements of the TV. Tube TVs can be extremely heavy, even if the TV is relatively small, so it is important that the TV stand be able to support the full weight of the TV. Fortunately, because of their weight and square dimension, Tube TVs are usually sturdier upon various TV stands as opposed to the other technologies.
Large TVs (More than 51’’)
Huge TVs are becoming more and more popular as new technologies emerge and prices drop. TVs over 51’’ are almost always Plasma or DLP TVs. If you have a large TV, regardless of the type, it is essential that you choose a TV stand that will fit your TV. Mid-Size TVs (30’’ to 50’’)
Measured diagonally across the screen, Mid-Size TVs have a little more flexibility when it comes to choosing the right TV stand. As before, the same rules apply. Make sure that the TV stand you buy is not too small. Some CRT TVs are in this size bracket and it is important that the TV stand you choose accommodate all aspects of what constitutes the “size” of a TV.
Small TVs (Less than 30’’)
Small TVs, regardless of the type, can usually perform and look great on all TV stands. You even might want to consider some of the larger TV stands, that can support not only your smaller TV, but also additional a/v components if not a lamp or vase.
TV Armoires
TV Armoires are perfect for bedrooms and living rooms. They allow you to conceal a TV with opening and closing drawers. This is great when you want to take the emphasis away from your TV. TV armoires also usually have several drawers to either store DVDs, socks, or anything else you can think of!
TV Cabinets
TV cabinets are usually much shorter than TV armoires, but allow you support your TV and have several drawers for multimedia storage, such as CDs, DVDs, or video games.
Corner TV Stands
Corner TV stands are great for two reasons. They allow your TV to stand deep in the corner of a room. This type of TV stand is great for rooms with windows and doorways where TVs cannot go. But not only to corner TV stands get your TV out of the way, but they allow for the two adjoining walls to act as leading lines towards the TV itself. This is perfect for focusing attention toward a television set.
Open Shelf TV Stands
Open shelf TV stands let your TV rest upon a series of shelves that can show off all of your other components in a modern open air design. These shelves are easy to maintain and clean. Threading wires through open shelf TV stands is also a much easier experience.
Swivel TV Stands
Swivel TV stands give you the freedom to adjust the audience span of your TV in a safe and effective manner. This is much more practical approach to rotating your TV around a room than attempting to do so with a swivel stand. Turning your TV without a swivel stand can possibly be damaging to both your TV and your non-swivel TV stand.
Most TV stands are constructed from one of three materials, glass, metal, or wood. Most contain combinations of two of the types of TV stand materials. Metal TV stands can be extremely sturdy and can sometimes assist in deliver better sound quality. Wood TV stands are both sturdy and can be classic and contemporary in style.
